I disagree haha. I think you chopped up her vocals in the most original, interesting way. I like the call and response melody in the beginning a lot. Very regal sounding. Are those your vocals too?

DarkHorseOrchestra responds:

Well, let's agree to disagree then haha. Yeah those are my vox too

You can only go up from there. Sheesh. What made you choose the original? Either way, this kicks ass. You did well here. I love the intro. I love the groove to it all. There's something "cool" about this track. I have to give you a lot of credit for what you were working with. The last 30 seconds or so are so dope.

That being said, the snare is horrendous. So loud and to the left. Why... The claps and cymbals are pretty bad too. Fix the drums and you have a perfect song.

I LIKE IT

SI-7 responds:

Thanks for the review, and thanks a ton for the advice on the percussion. I have issues with panning things properly, as I'm completely deaf on my left side.

You went in a direction I wanted the original piece to go. You evolved it and brought more dynamics to the song. The mix is tight and everything sounds pro.

The sidechaining is a bit obnoxious, though. I can barely enjoy the main melody of the song because it goes in and out so much. We finally hear the full melody at 3:39 with no side chain but there's no beat and its very anti-climatic the way it ends like that.

It's still a very well rounded and fleshed out remix.

Thank you for the feedback!

I always found Paragon's music boring. With that being said, I did enjoy your remix over the original.

You took what is originally a pretty dull melody and added a lot of dynamics and some cool drops. The song became more lively for me after the 2 and a half minute mark. The solo section in the middle is pretty chaotic but in a good and satisfying way. It's the best part of the song.

The drum samples are weak and I think the song could be shortened in the beginning to catch up to the more interesting sections.

A fun tune, overall.

SplatterDash responds:

Hey djt! Thanks for being a judge for this month's NAC. Before I talk about the stuff you mentioned, I will actually say that I think you're the first person who has said they don't like Paragon's music lol. I don't have anything against that; in fact, I'm actually kinda happy that there is some difference in opinion on his songs and I am more than willing to welcome that :D

I think the one thing that was an issue here was the percussion - TheComet and Flashburn also mentioned that as an issue. I think I may know a fix around this, but considering that I have Ableton 9 Lite, my samples and mastering materials are kinda limited, so it's kinda working with what I got. Still, I think I may know some solutions to this for other songs.

The intro, when I made it, was an attempt to separate from the original, which used the melody to build into the main part. I wanted to make it longer than in the song to give it leeway to expand before the actual song began. I can try looking to see how I could do the same in half the time, though, for future stuff.

Thank you again for leaving a review! I will take you advice into consideration for the future :)

I could shit to this. 5/5.

GoreBastard responds:

That's what I intended when I recorded it!

I started liking it a lot when the heaviness kicked in. The riff around 2:00 is stellar! I feel the rumble in that low note. Then it explodes into that fast riff. You're a very good player. Voted 5.

Thanks for the review!

Creepy scary organ.

6clawdy6 responds:

twas the point, my friend. Glad you like it

Pretty cool track. Yes it is repetitive but has some nice sounds. I like the modulation. Could use a better mix. Voted 5.

GDKrilz responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you like the sounds and modulation. :)

Yeah, this is great. I love the harmony you introduce at around 1:29. Good mix. Solid tune. Massive riffs.

JDawg00100 responds:

Thank you :D

Cute little jingle but that synth sounds a little out of tune. Very relaxing sounding music though. Good job. Voted 5

viktorix responds:

Thanks!

I make music and try to make peace.
